You know the 4, 5 or 8 etc in one remote handsets?
I have a tv, video & dvd player which I suppose should be no problem.I also
have an old Pioneer on-digital box which I am using to watch freeview.
1 question:
Will one of these all in one handsets work with the old on-digi box?

Get a decent one and it will learn from your existing remote.
My One for all 6 works fine with my Pace On-Digi box..

I have a TV (Hitachi), VCR (Panasonic) and Freeview Box (Grundig) and
would also be prepared to fork out for a quality back-up remote which
could be programmed to function on all three. Does anyone know if there
are products which claim to meet these specs on the market? Any info, eg
URLs and suggestions etc, would be gratefully received. TIA.

I have one of these and it is good...
Some of the default programming was not to my liking but this is easily
changed using the learning facility. You can programme any button to
duplicate any button on your existing remote.
It also doesn't lose its memory when you change the batteries.

Bought mine from CPC (sorry the URL is massive)

Maplin do a pretty cool all for one remote:

Highly recommended. Senses if the rooms dark too, and if so switches on the
backlight which lights the whole screen.
