The Film Four website states that they are becoming a Freeview channel
in July 2006 but as of today they still do not know what channel number
they will be using or what actual date they will be starting.

Does anybody have any more accurate information?

Isn't it replacing More4+1 on channel 31?

AIUI they will be using the More4+1 mux but that doesn't mean that
the LCN will remain.

CITV replaced the ITV News channel, although the mux stayed the same
the LCN have changed to 75. LCN 81 now belongs to BBC Parliament.

A-hem!

There is an MHEG on LCN 31 stating the following:

'From July Channel 31 will be the new home of FilmFour where you can watch
great films everyday for free'

Surely it can't be clearer than that???

If you re-install the channels, channel 31 now says 'Film Four'.

MHEG or no MHEG, the LCN is still called "FilmFour" which is a bit of a
giveaway..
I guess the OP never does a re-scan, 'cos it's been there a month now.

Does this mean as from Saturday, July 1st? Seems too good to be
true... :-)

Don't worry.. it's bound to have a DOG covering at least
a quarter of the screen, with a semi-permanent banner
covering the bottom 1/8th of the screen in large 4:3
proclaiming next week's viewing - with a flashing in/out
top banner to let you know which advert is going to be
transmitting come the next 10 minute break...

...or did you really think we're going to get away with it?! ;)))

Like an idiot, I recently recorded Lost off E4+1. I knew there would be an
E4+1 DOG, which I hoped would be discrete enough that I could tolerate it.
What I did not anticipate was that some creative genius (perhaps it was Andi
Peters) would have seen fit to emblazon the words "Second chance" beneath
the DOG, in bright white lettering that contrasted painfully with any dark
scenes, drawing the viewers' eyes back to it again and again.

When I come to power I shall re-introduce public floggings for the people
responsible for this sort of thing.

Naturally. It will be the only show allowed to adorn the screen with useless
junk. Partly that would be the miscreants themselves, of course, but I also
envisage a display of the 'work' for which they are being justly punished
dancing around the edges of the screen as a warning to others.
