TopGear as a motoring programme is abysmal....silly tossers doing high-speed
handbrake turns on a runway....just the sort of low intellignce behaviour of
yobs on a sink council estate ..

The real motoring programmes are on German TV ..Motorvision on Deutsche
Sport Fernsehen ....similar prog on Deutsche Welle and saturday evening
Turbo on French channel M6 ...they show the Lanky Loon, the Goggle-Eyed
jabberer and the "so laid back I'm horizontal One"the way home...

On these they actually show you details of the interior dashboard
instruments gadgets and even open the bonnet to have a look at the engine
and the boot to see how big it is.

I'm absolutely not a petrol head - in fact I'm against the motor culture,
but I love top gear because it's about the only prog left on the box where
everybody has loadsa fun.

Agreed, I think its one of the best programme's on TV, the new format
is just superb entertainment. Some of the cars are quite nice too,
especially that Spyker C8.

No, it's one of the best programmes on the box at the moment. Why not
just turn it off?

The should change the format a little.. show "realistic" cars that people
can afford..

Last night with the Taxi C-Max and Renault was better... more of the same
please...

Doz
ps.. I'd love a Spyker though.. what fun going round a round-a-bout !?

I'm with Mike on this. I have little interest in cars. I started
watching _Top Gear_ because I adored Jeremy Clarkson's invective.
Then a few years ago the producers noticed that the programme
became even more fun if you could get co-presenters with different
attitudes to argue with one-another so you got the unholy
trinity of Clarkson, Willson and Needell and the viewer could pick
the one whose views he had most in common with.

Now they're doing a typical British class system thing with May,
Clarkson and Hammond performing that old sketch from the David
Frost show: "I look down on him ... I look up to him but I look
down on him ... I get a pain in the neck from both of them.".
The program alternates nicely between them all picking on one
another for (social) stature issues and all performing as great
mates. And they each have their female admirers for reasons I
totally don't understand.

Hammond is great at the nitty gritty vehicle stuff: facts and
details. May is good at comparisons and social issues. Clarkson
is good at touch and feel reviews and he can still make me laugh
my head off.

Simon.

The visuals can be stunningly beautiful too.
The episode where they were testing cars on the beach was brilliantly shot,
with good use of graduated filters to bring out the clouds.

If you like the effect you can get the same by placing a magnet near the
top of your television screen.
