TV - Samsung UE-40F5550, with original remote AA59-0079A.
Recorder / DVD player Samsung BD-F8500-XU, with original remote
AK59-00164A.

The recorder remote is designed to control the TV and fully control
the the recorder / DVD player.

Today this AK59-00164A remote has ceased to control anything on the TV
but works fully OK on the recorder / DVD player. The TV sensor (which
normally flashes when receiving remote output ) never flashes. Even
the remote power on/off button does nothing

The TV is fully controllable from the TV remote AA59-0079A. (The TV
sensor flashes).

The TV has had 30 mintes with power disconnected and still same
problem.

The failing remote has had batteries changed and output sensed on
mobile phone.

It just seems as though the remote has decided suddenly to sent wrong
signals to the TV.

Is there any way of resetting the AK59-00164A reemote.

According to the Samsung support site, there might be a need to re-pair
remote and TV.
https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/tv-audio-video/my-tv-remote-isnt-working/
I haven't found instructions on how to do it, but your TV manual should
have it in the Troubleshooting section.

I also found this advice on a different AK59 number, but it might work
on yours:
"Remove batteries and hold down one or more buttons for several minutes
to drain the microprocessor inside the remote control to reset it.
Reinstall batteries and try to operate the remote control again."

It might be worth a try.

Thank you very much, it is code 01. I guess I must have lost the
setting with my fat fingers on TV power on button and one or other of
the numbers this morning.

It is a pity that Samsung chat support couldn't figure it out!!!

I know it's not a Samsung, but my Panasonic remote control can be reset
by pressing 'OK' and '1' simultaneously and holding for 5 seconds, which
might be worth a try as well.

I suspect all remotes have a similar code and it's just(!) a matter of
finding it in the manuals or online.

Thanks. However see my reply to Adrian. The fix is well hidden. It
doesn't appear on my Start page search with search of "AK29-00164A"

Samsung chat were useless.
