New LG TV - PCMCIA slot?

Just taken delivery off a LG 55SJ850V and opened the online manual.
The apertures include one labelled as a PCMCIA slot.
Now I'm used to that from previous generation laptops (before USB became
the default) but hadn't seen it as a TV interface before.
Previous TVs have a CAM slot (which I have never seen used) and some
searching suggests that a CAM card can be added via the PCMCIA slot. It
isn't clear, though, if CAM slots are PCMCIA by default, just not
described that way.
Be nice if my old PCMCIA cards could be used, of course. I assume no
chance.

Physically a CAM slot is the same as a PCMCIA card, some TVs can take

firmware upgrades via a PCMCIA flash card.
Since the death of TUTV, there's no use for a CAM, I doubt the PCMCIA
slot will do you any good.

You could always try it to find out.

I suppose that does depend on what functions your PCMCIA cards perform.
I have one that provides an ancient laptop with an ethernet connection,
which would be pretty pointless plugged into a smart TV with an inbuilt
ethernet port.

RememberTV's are made for world standards now, just localised by
software. CAM is still used in some other countries.
