Problems with Ferguson TV

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Ferguson T59F 25" TV second hand. It works well
enough, however I find the picture is too bright- whilst dark pictures are
very dark, lighter scenes seem to cause a great deal of glare- white in
particular seems far too bright. This is despite having the user contrast
control set to almost minimum.
I believe there is a secondary contrast control which may be able to improve
this, accessed via a secret engineers' menu of some kind- does anyone know
how I might access such a menu on this set?
