NTL Pace STB LAN connector

Does anyone know the protocol used by the PACE NTL STB network connection on
the back off the box.

I have been told you can access some setting on the box via the network
point & some special software.

Ye sim using it- pace ditv-2000 with normal rj45 cable. 512k internet,
lovely.

I was told that the cable modem went through the phone line side of the
install ( like ADSL )
