this cam are already available, unfortunately it's not possible to find in
shops anywhere because the company try to find accord with canal plus. The
company is aston, they create their own technology named astoncrypt ( with
the same cam it will be possible to use it for mediaguard and viaccess)
because canal plus refused to sell them a licence. they promise every month
to sell in 10 days... since one year. Maybe you're right, never we will have
it.

wotsat magazine said there is a possibility of mediaguard being scrapped -
now that would leave OnDigital in a bit of a mess : )

Aston do now have a licence for Mediaguard. They have had one since
the middle of last year.

Their product was not a CAM, but a sofware implementation of
Mediaguard. i.e. if you have an Aston X-1500 (I think that was the
reference) receiver you could update its sofware to handle Mediaguard.

So this technique is much more interesting than a CAM - no hardware is
needed and so it is very much cheaper.

What would be nice if they implement this approach for other
encryption. e.g. Videoguard.
(They already have for Viaccess).

I am not certain of this but I think that concept also applies to UK law.
