Thanks - Dave
>OK so Goodmans is a piece of shite
What makes you say that?

So just like every other brand these days, you get what you pay for.
It always amuses me when people slag off the cheaper brands unaware
that most of their stuff is made by the bigger, more famous
counterparts such as Philips, Mitsubishi etc...

And when you drop below the point at which a reliable (insert type of
appliance here) can be made you end up wasting your money.

And I'm always amused when people try to justify their cheap shite as being
a rebadged Sony etc etc an attempt to convince everyone that their
inferiority complex doesn't matter.
Having run an electrical retailer I'm well aware of the commonality of some
parts and there is a huge difference between having a bottom of the range
philips tube inside a cheap no name tv and a decent well made philips
widescreen.
Looking at the setup codes used for universal remote controls is always a
good clue to where a tv has come from
I worked with it for years. DISGUSTING stuff!

Having said that, Sony has become "cheaper" over the past few years. A
well known name is no longer a guarantee of quality and all brands are
guilty of building down to a price.

That is true but there again a number of cheap set use Philips made
chassis as well!

Yup
Dave
So buy a pace box then..
Some Goodmans stuff is crap but some is alright, I've got their home cinema
DVD player made by Alco and it does the job very nicely. The new DTV box is
made by Vestel (http://www.vestel.com.tr). I don't know what it's actually
like compared to the other boxes but at least you can see what factory and
company it's from.
Not much... Used it couple of weeks ant did not crash yet ;)
Found all channels recently w/out any problems...
Marcin
In true catalogue style, Freemans want 99.99 for it!

From the perspective of its interactive capabilities, it is pretty
nifty. It uses the Cabot MHEG engine, which is known to be one of the
fastest around. Much faster that anything else other than the Pace
box, certainally.
Pro: easier to stack than the pace box; arguably better looking;
channel display
Con: Bigger than the pace box; that big red led
Basically, it's currently one of the best two boxes available.
