Simple question:

Will a Roku streaming box (or a Now TV box for that matter)
connect to BT Broadband and show BT Sports?

If not what is the easiest free way to view BT Sports on a
normal (not smart) TV?

Elderly neighbour just getting broadband.......

well according to the BT sport WebPages (oddly, the spell checker liked that
capitalisation!)

you can only get BT sport if:

1) you are a Sky Sat subscriber
2) you use BT as your BB supplier

Yes it sucks.

Fortunately, I'm in the set of people who don't care.

But I agree that it's wrong for those that do.

Now it could be that there are other options. But they have hidden them in
a cave somewhere

Tnx for the reply. The user concerned is about to be a BT BB
user - more fool him but he wasn't to know.

Oh

well to save me walking through the options one by one

go here:

http://sport.bt.com/pages/sport/sportpicker.html

and select the appropriate choices

If you end up at the "Activate the app and online player" you would be right
in thinking that there doesn't appear to be anything that tells you a full
list of what platforms these run on.

This is not true! You can also get BT Sport on a computer or via an App for some
tablets etc.

If you do not use BT Broadband it is not free (13/month or so) - but it IS
available!

But it is true that the BTSports website does not say this

If you go through the options and say" I am not a BT BB customer and I'm not
a Sky customer" it says

Your options:

1) Get a BT Infinity and BT TV package, and add BT Sport during your order

2) Get BT broadband with free BT Sport app and online player

3) Other ways to watch BT Sport
A) Sign up for Sky
b) Get BT TV (Isn't that the same as 1 above?)
c) On the App and online Plater (Player?)

select (c)

"How to get BT Sports via App and Online":

Get BT BB with free App and player

(and round and round in this circle you go)

Oh yes!! - so I now see! It used to be a lot more obvious - if it IS still
possible to order without BT Broadband!

Don't worry, if it's anything like iPlayer, they will soon 'improve'
it, so it's totally useless.

Sorry late reply.

Same sort of situation here - for my older mate, but he is a BT
subscriber. Can use already use the BT App on his smart phone.

So went for a chromecast, (has a App to download) to for his
not-so-smart telly. Wants footie on the big screen but couldn't go
wireless and telly didn't have network connection ..... does have a HDMI
connection though.

Good deal from Wuaki TV at present - but better earlier - for a streamed
TV series (Game of Thrones or The Sopranos or The Blacklist) AND a
Chrome cast device, for around the 25 quid mark. Device alone is 30
from Google.

http://bit.ly/ULR7fe

Note device needs power via USB port on the telly or via standard
lead/plug from the mains. And you need a smart phone with installed
App(s) as the 'remote'.

Only problem now is getting a HDMI splitter, has 3 inputs to the telly &
only 2 inputs .... getting a cheap one from Amazon.
