Anyone else seeing this new(?) Dog on BBC2 (SD and HD) in place of the
Text red button?

It seems to have started in the last couple of days, and doesn't appear
on BBC1. It appears to be removable by pressing the yellow or blue
button. Pressing green takes you to iPlayer and will restart the
programme. Although not mentioned, pressing red !brings up a BBC2
options screen, with an option to watch the current programme from the
start, and a couple of pictures with links to current programmes or
boxed sets, and a list with: News, Sport, iPlayer, Featured, Weather,
Lottery, and Settings, and a red button with "Close menu" next to it.

Selecting "Settings" gives a choice of "Red Button+ Tour", "Get Help",
"Provide Feedback", and "Access original Red Button". If I select "Red
Button+ Tour", I get the News, Sport, iPLayer, etc list above. There
appears to be no way out other than using the "Exit" button on the remote.

Is this new and was it mentioned somewhere previously and I missed it?

Dunno I've been having weird problems just getting the screenreader to
operate the controls to start the ad version.
Bah humbug.

That's going to help all those people with Red/Green colour
blindness :-).

Press Grey or Grey. Bit like Pot Black on a B&W telly.

I used to watch snooker on a B&W TV.
The only problem I had with the shades of grey was distinguishing the
brown from the red. Provided I watched and remembered where the brown
was, I could follow the match with no problems.

I doubt someone with red/green colour blindness would have a problem
with fixed primary colours (like the ones on TV remotes which derive
from Fastext), as the red and green are likely to be different shades of
whatever they see, in the same way they would learn that leaves are
(usually) green.

The order of the four colours left to right on all RCs is standardised.

Red Green Yellow Blue, so anyone colour blind will have evolved to
'second from left' means Green.

Same principle as traffic lights !

I had no idea there were coloured buttons on the remote.

If traffic lights were progressively replaced by
ones that were RED, GREEN, YELLOW from top to bottom
then I anticipate a lot of issues.
