Good people; here's my issue:

We boughtone of these at a(n) Hotel sale. the standard manual says get the
Menu up and get to Channels and do a scan - this is what I want, but the
menu button may have been disabled by the hotel? Any ideas on how to reset
to factory, so I can go through the setup?

You may have a reduced-function remote control.

When it was bought from a hotel and the set has a "hotel mode" I think
the odds are that it is in that mode.
Getting out of that mode means going into the service menu but I don't
know how to do that on that set.

It does seem to be that a certain key combination is hinted at! I haven't
discovered it yet though. Thanks for the url
(though scribd seems to need a f*book account to download pdfs)

OK sorted! for future ref it was:
vol- and input at power up to get "K"
then
vol+ & CH+ to get factory menu
change public mode to on
change menu button to recognised
reboot
and I now have the menu!
scanning now
OK have BBC channels! (the ITV ones were OK, BBC ones kept "no signalling"
- I guess where we are now is on a different thingy [multiplex?]).

I found it also, but not as fast. I Searched for 'Hotel mode' in that
Service Manual document.
