ITV1 (Analogue) sound fault?

on analogue, from Sutton Coldfield. It seems to affect NICAM and the
Analogue-FM equally. It sounds a bit like there's cotton wool in my
ears, and a frequency analysis of the sound shows a wide notch,
centered on 5KHz.

That's a frequency analysis of "The Bill" music, green trace from ages ago,
red trace from last night.
It's most noticeable on music with reasonable HF content, or audience
applause, but it's across all programmes and adverts, as far as I can
tell, and seems to have been like that for a few days now.

Nope, all from NICAM stereo (hence the pairs of traces).
The difference at 13KHz+ is due to the archive recording being an mp3,
the current "faulty" one being uncompressed.
The mp3/wav difference has nothing to do with the 5KHz notch, though (which
is present in the UNcompressed one!).
[Update: I notice that whatever it was, it's stopped sounding odd -- a
repeat frequency scan shows it's been cleared!]
