I'm fair enough myself to give anybody applause who comes round for it.
I ask this after going to Kings Lynn on Wednesday and witnessing the
behaviour of the Lynn fans (who seem to have gained a bad reputation over
the last few years), not that there were that many. They gave the Coventry
boys some awful stick on the back straight using foul and abusive language
when ever they came round, even Andreas Jonsson who wasn't involved in 1
contraversial incident all night.
I can see no point in foul and abusive language - I was no particular fan of
Andy Smith but the abuse he used to suffer from Bees fans when he rode for
them, really got my goat

Several heat later Stan and Kenny were drawn to ride against each other
again. Stan Bear made the gate and led Kenny. Kenny tried to sweep past
Stan on the outside of the 2nd bend so Stan repaid the earlier compliment,
Kenny bit the dust and was excluded. The roar that went around the Poole
Stadium was unbeleivable, but what got me was a group on Kenny Carters
supporter who started verbally abusing Poole riders and fans alike.
I personally will applaud any rider (or competitor regardless of the sport)
when they have done well, but I will also voice an opinion if I beleive the
riders deserves it. Those "fans" that do abuse away riders are normally the
same vans on the back of home riders when they have an off night. I don't
think we will change it, lets just hope we don't end up where football is
now.

It was several year ago in aussie I beleive. Now I am not 100% sure on this
so if anyone elso know the exact fact then please put me right. I was told
it was the result of a road race accident at the gold coast race track,
apparently stan later died (several months) as a result of something to do
with the accident that the doctors never picked up.
I had the pleasure of watching Stan & Rob Ashton ride at archfield aerodome
(outskirts of brisbane) the winter (our winter) before they teamed up with
Weymouth and exeter respectively. Stan later moved to Poole wher he became
captain while Rob fell by the wayside.
My claim to fame was saving both stans and sam emerlenko bikes while they
were doing a bit of PR at a local show. All the little kids were hassling
both of them and there bikes when little johnny fell over knocking over one
bike and then the other, fortunately I was able catch both bikes before
they hit the deck, crushing johnny and his friends.
Boy do I feel old now!
