The house of LV has gotten even brighter. Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton are paying homage to the late Stephen Sprouse. The house is showing admiration for the late designer/artist come next month. Using the classic limited edition 2001 graffiti print, Jacobs will be unveiling a new limited edition collection of accessories and ready-to-wear. The renewed Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse collection comes just in time for the retrospective called “Rock on Mars” which will be held at the Deitch Projects’ 18 Wooster Street gallery from Jan. 8 to Feb. 28, and “The Stephen Sprouse Book,” by Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha, due out from Rizzoli New York on Feb. 1, 2009. The flurry surrounding the new collection, finally came into play thanks to Deitch who approached Jacobs in creating a line related to the retrospective.
Like the 2001 collaboration, Jacobs used two iconic Sprouse motifs which featured the graffiti along with the rose and revamped both motifs in Day-Glo shades of pink, green and orange over monogram print. The new Day-Glo color scheme will be featured on Vuitton Keepall, Speedy, Neverfull styles, along with a sneaker boots, pumps, sunglasses, wristbands & headbands. Small leather goods such as coin purses and wallets will feature the updated Sprouse motif. The Louis Vuitton “Ready - To - Wear” collection will also receive a splash of Sprouse’s inspiration which will include, graffiti leggings, a mackintosh raincoat featuring graffiti lining, and a long-sleeve neon minidress will also feature the trademark Sprouse rose design.
