I'm looking for a list of five furlong Group races. In particular, I'm
interested in fast tracks like Goodwood or Epsom and Group One status.
Cheers,
L Lort

Here's a list of all the group races over 5f in the UK

Group 1
Nunthorpe (at York)
King's Stands Stakes (Ascot).

Group 2
Temple Stakes (Haydock)
Queen Mary Stakes (Ascot)
Norfolk Stakes (Ascot)
Flying Childers Stakes (Doncaster)

Group 3
Palace House Stakes (Newmarket)
Molecomb Stakes (Goodwood)
World Trophy (Newbury - actually 5f 34y)
Cornwallis Stakes (Ascot)

Other races
Super Sprint Trophy (Newbury)

I think that's all of them.

Other races abroad would be something like the Prix de l'Abbaye at
Longchamp.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Thanks very much!
All of them appear to be on stiffish tracks, save the Molecomb, which,
IIRC, is for juveniles. I'm looking for a race for a 4yo, trained overseas.
The Nunthorpe might suit - how stiif, or otherwise, is York?

As York replaced for Ascot whilst it was being renovated, I'd assume that
they are similar (in different directions). Going by Flatstats.co.uk, it
says that it's a galloping track (rather than stiff).

Thanks Anthony.
I know Ascot is uphill on the straight course, but my recollection of
York is that it's fairly flat. But I last went there a long time ago, so
I can't really swear by that.

Your right LLort, York is pretty flat but I would defo say that Ascot is
a fairly stiff 5f although whether this still holds as true after the
re-development I'm not so sure.

I don't think the course changes made any significant difference to that
Ascot rise close to home. York is certainly amongst the flatest and
fastest around, with 5F times several seconds faster than Ascot.
Coventry Stakes winner when transfered to York 57.56 on good/fast going,
which is pretty nippy. Same race at its home at Ascot on similar will
be around 1.02 plus.
