My question is, has anyone purchased clubs from this retailer and if
so what are their experiences, good or bad ....
Remember that the company website is HTTP://WWW.DIRECTGOLF.CO.UK
Thanks, Mark ..
They seem to be very reputable to me, the only drawback compared to others
is that they don't do PX.

I'd second that. My local pro matched a price I saw on the internet this
week for a set of irons. Everyone was happy - me with the cheaper sale and
the pro for selling a set of irons that he wouldn't have got rid of at the
price he was advertising them.

A couple of months ago I phoned Direct Golf UK wanting to buy a Cleveland
588 gunmetal wedge advertised in their catalogue at £69.99 (+£5.00 delivery
charge)
The reply was that they'd sold out however they should get some within 7-10
days but the price would be increased to £79.99+£5.00 P&P
I declined to order, did a bit of shopping around and eventually managed to
buy one at £75.00 from a pro shop
If you look in their latest catalogue the same club is still being
advertised at £69.99 (+£5.00 P&P)
Underhand, bad luck, coincidence ? I'll leave you to draw your own
conclusions.

False adevertising
I guess its just a matter of who the pro who is, how well you get on with
him and how much he values your business.
Ours is great and very helpful when it comes to supplying demo clubs and let
me have the ones I was trying for a week so I could decide that they were
the irons for me. They were and we came to an agreement about the price.
And no - I do not work for them.
Darryl.

I have ordered many things from Direct golf...always delivered on time and
always at the price advertised...including a Cleveland Gunmetal wedge and
a set of irons.
I guess their brochures are printed some time in advance and prices change
very quickly in the golfing world. (if youwant to see incorrect prices in
brochures ..look at the computer company brochures).
I should add I have had problems with other golf web stores.

I had the latest advert/magazine from directgolf and happened to be using it
as a reference while going around the local pro shops looking for clubs. At
at least one of the pro shops the pro asked me how much the clubs I was
interested in (I decided on Callaway big bertha irons in the end) were in
the ad I was holding. The pro had them priced up at £80 each but was happy
to proice match the ad in my pocket. I walked away happy.
other than that I have bought my woods and lob wedge (only a cheapy one)
from direct golf, along with my latest bag. I phoned them to chat through
my order rather than use th eweb interface. I found out, by talking, what
was in stock and what wasn't. So if you're worried about them being in
stock then phone up and ask them. I got free courier delivery in a couple
of days.
the bottom line though, is that I've had no grief from them whatsoever in
two orders. I'd go back to them.

Never used them.. however one or 2 comments have been drawn in their
likeness to American Golf Discount. I have found that these deals they
have are a lot of the times non-existent.
When I asked American Golf why this seemed to be the case, they said
because they are a franchise operation that they do not always get the
same stock as other stores.
I wanted to buy the missus a starter set for about £120 including,
trolley, bag & clubs. They never had it... when I asked if they could not
just ask another store to ship one over, the franchise thing was brought
up again.
It would be interesting to see what trading standards would make of these
tactics.
On the other hand I have seen deals as advertised by them in the shop. So
maybe it's just pot-luck.
After a few days I asked again about eta and got a very curt reply - "the
order was placed on the 28th and it is up to 7 working days so it could be
next week".
The order had actually been placed on the 27th - so I enquired again as to
whether the order had ACTUALLY shipped - 4 days after I was informed
of the grips being out of stock.
Err - no it hadnt shipped. So I cancelled the order and went to a local AGD
to get the 320ti and ordered grips and stuff from Tim Jenkins Golf. The
grips
etc were ordered on the Friday and with me on the Tuesday - superb service
and very competitive on price (and no, I dont work for them).
So my advice - steer clear of Direct golf and see if you can find a proshop
that
does price matching - even if its slightly higher than online price - Id
always buy
locally if I can.
