FOR SALE:

Squad of mercenaries, virtually all of foreign origin. Most aged 30 or so and
not getting any younger. Bought at huge expense over past two years on
deluded premise that they could win serious trophies. In practice ultimately
failed, but still worthy of consideration by any mid-table side. Must sell
due to financial difficulty.

Please contact:

K Bates esq.
c/o CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB
SECOND BEST TEAM IN
LONDON
SW somewhere or the other...

PS Will throw in Graham Rix's entire collection of 'Razzle' magazine for
free.
PPS Discount given to the over-60s. Proof of age - i.e. being able to
remember Chelsea's last title win - required.

I am. Such is the velocity with which I travel across London every
morning an devening, I am, in fact, distorting the space-time
continuum around me, meaning that if you express the common timescale
on Earth as 0, my timescale is actually -0.0000001, meaning that I am
getting younger every day, relative to the general poulation.

Possibly, but I used to work for the company that produces both Razzle
and the UK version of Hawk (but I was working on one of the more
respectable titles...), and Hawk was the only teen mag I could think
of this late at night while pissed.

Now I think of it, that German one (Der Schulmaden Report?) is more

Hmmm, not fair Chris, not fair.

Chelseas best finish for 29 years and we finally fell on Wednesday. To think that the two games
against United at Christmas Chelsea were unfortunate to get a draw - even when they outplayed
United. Those extra four points - ah well.

I can still remember that the old Chelsea side did manage to put 5 past Arsenal though.... (Flame
on - let me guess, we put out our second team, na na bollocks).

Can anyone on this NG name any other teams, that were founded

PS Didn't Arsenal play their CC *home* games at Wembley. :-)

Is your weird DIY-superstore (The grey roof supported by all those blue

Let me tell you all that stuff was from Habitat and Homebase, none of
that B&Q shit you guys used to re-develop Highbury, but yes, there is
still an ongoing row with the local council about the completion of the
West Stand, in relation to CFC building a covered walkway to the tube
station. Nothing to do with the free view the locals along the west side
are currently getting contrary to popular rumour. I confidently expect
Fulham Broadway tube station to be renamed Bates Broadway at some point

Surely West Ham, formerly Thames Ironworks FC, would have had to play closer
to the river than currently? Where would that have been - on the Lea Valley,
or North Woolwich or thereabouts?

Aaaaah! What, is the rain occasionally falling damaging all your cashmere

Should cover the entire area. A big Millennium Dome-esque tent stretching
from Putney to Earl's Court. No more moaning, and we can keep all your lot
neatly covered up. :-)

I've always wondered how good a view those flats - the ones on Aubert Park by
Highbury, the high-rises around Upton Park etc. And if they're good, how much
do they go for?

Really? Lucky sod. I wish I had a bit of history in my garden.

Must have been a right bugger if you were defending the downhill end.

I can remember the area pretty well - there used to be loads of gas works
there, but now there's an ASDA and some other shops. A bit further on and
there's that half-completed flyover approach to some bridge which never got
planning permission - so it's just half a bridge with a dead end thirty feet
off the ground. They've placed avery obstacle possible to stop people driving
off the top and to their doom. Shame.

Yes, and it's even more of a dump than Grimsby...
