Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Tom Curran (Surrey), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Dawid Malan (Middlesex), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), David Willey (Yorkshire).

Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Tom Curran (Surrey), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), David Willey (Yorkshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).

No real shocks there it would seem but I see Tom Curran is added to the ODI squad. I thought he was out with a back injury but I assume that's healed well enough.

I'm guessing that the first squad there is the T20 squad and the second
the ODI squad, based on Ali and Woakes only being in the second squad
and Dawson only in the first.

He's named in the 14-man Surrey squad for the match against Hampshire
starting tomorrow.

I'd give Joe Root a break and not put him in 20/20. We don't really need
him in that.

He is being selected for limited overs matches, so why is his CC form
particularly relevant?

It would be far more relevant to give his ODI and T20 averages. Also his
good performances in England's T20 matches against South Africa no doubt
have a lot to do with his selection.

I'm surprised that stokes is in either. as hes not essential to odi,
I would have rested him, especially to avoid any argy bargy with samuels
that might get him suspended. and root could have been as well: does it
often happen that the test captain gets ordered about by a different odi
captain? I spose it happened to cook.

It is the best yardstick to judge a player's ability. RH

Why is Buttler being selected then?

Btw, Curran has 3-21 overnight in his first match back from injury.

Because he had prior achievement in FC cricket before his slection for limited overs cricket for England... Rh

SIGH. It is only a yardstick not a certain assessment of a player's quality. It is also worth adding in Fairbrother's case that he was selected in the one Test failure and drop them era. Had he been given the run that modern players do it could have been a different story. RH

I wasn't referring to Test cricket, his career One Day average was
higher than his FC one.

I would have thought actually watching him in One-Dayers and T20s would be the best yardstick: something that I don't believe you've done?
