Indeed he was. If South Africa hadn't been banned from Test cricket for
most of his career, I think he would have had an all-round record to
compare with Botham, Hadlee, Kapil Dev and Imran. He was as good a
bowler any of them, and a better batsman than Hadlee and Kapil Dev.

he was also faster than any of them, certainly in the 70s. SA would have
been such a force in the 70s and probably the 80s as well but aparthied
prevented some great matchups between safy greats against Lillian Thomson
and the windies in their pomp. ironic that about 10 years after
rejecting dolly, they were desperately inviting international teams of
any hue or ethnicity to tour RSA.
