Hi,
A new season is approaching, and I find myself playing cricket for a new
team, who's overall skill level is somewhat higher than my last one. I'm
keen to improve my skills (I'm primarily a leg-spinner: my batting and
fielding are, frankly, woeful) and I was wondering if anyone knew of some
good internet sites where I could get some tips. Cricket coaching sites seem
to be few and far between.

I agree Matt. Had much the same trouble. I got spinning tips from a friend
of mine from India who I met in a chat room. If you want to contact me off
list I'll be happy to tell you what he imparted to me. I also have the
Rover/ECB coaching manual from 1997/98, although I know of no online
version.

By the way. Given the current climate, have you thought about changing your
surname?

A fellow leggie!

Don't know of any online coaching references - but I can recommend the MCC
coaching book (I think that's its title?) - the leg-spinning chapter is
written by Richie Benaud and taught me everything. It's probably more for
the "starting" leg spinner as it covers a lot on action and wrist-positions
(both of which, once you've got your own style, are hard to change).

It has a video accompanied with it too - really useful. Perhaps Mr
Salisbury might want to read it? :)

There is a website called http://www.cricketcoach.com/ that may be useful.

Regards,

Dave.
