I see he hasn't posted anywhere for some time - does anyone know if he's ok?

No idea.
He wasn't recorded as deceased on 05/12 by St Pancras coroner.
Maybe he's in hospital.
Or ask the police to carry our a welfare check at his address.

Enquiry:
Good afternoon,
We do not hold any records of Robert Henderson.

Best wishes,

Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing more serious than computer
troubles.

Surely even if they did hold records for him they shouldn't tell you
what they were or even that they existed?

Death records are public. Coroner is the first place in the enquiry.
You need the most positive starting point so you don't go searching
about the welfare of someone who has 'gone away and buried' weeks
before.

Ah, I see. As the person replying to your enquiry was from the rather
vague "Community Services", I hadn't realised that it was a death record
that you were asking about.

Like you said, they won't tell you anything else.

Around here we have funeraltimes.com every death announcement is
published there usually within a day.

He's never been ok.

My guess is, Henderson's eye sight (macular degeneration he mentioned
many times) probably got WORSE and hence he cannot read properly anymore.

That sounds quite likely.

He's a vile, racist arsehole. That's a fact he doesn't bother to hide.
The world will be a better place without him.

And how did RH react to Mike Holmans' passing?

I think Richard was saying that, as RH showed no sympathy when Mike
died, he didn't deserve any sympathy himself when HE died. So Richard is
on your side.

While we're on this rather morbid topic, has anyone heard anything from
Alvey, who I don't think has been seen here for some months now?

Yeah, I was just playing around.
Is RH's passing confirmed?

Has it been that long?

I'm not sure that it has. But whatever's happened to him, it looks like
it must have been fairly serious.

I like to think that I have a pretty good imagination, but imagining
that is beyond me. :)

I'd rather think that he, like many, looked in here on Google Groups and saw it flooded with spam, gave up the ghost on here for good. Which I imagine I'll likely do when Google Groups also give up the ghost on Usenet in a few weeks' time.

That would be a shame. Fortunately the spam flood seems to have abated.

Have you thought of getting a "proper" newsreader and then subscribing
to either the excellent news.individual.net news server for a modest 10
euros a year or the slightly less excellent but free Eternal September?

Or there's this site, which seems to offer similar facilities to Google
Groups:

Thanks John, I'll take a look.
