the earliest on record here (1990), narrowly beating 8 Oct in 1990,
but has been as late as 14 Dec in 1994. The weekend rainfall event
total was a very modest 9.3mm.

*Just* managed an air frost here : -0.1°C, the earliest autumn frost for
5 years.
