Anyone know what's happened to www.theyr.com - It was a brilliant resource for
forecasts but I haven't been able to access it for weeks.

I have also missed the site a lot. I did some detective work, and got
an answer from an Icelandic gentleman who had some information. With
his permission, I'll post his answer here.

theyr. I am also gutted as will every other UK windsurfer this was
the best weather site bar none ... maybe the met office should make an

The site did present some excellent information and for a while
TheWeatherOutlook carried data from them and I discussed commercial
ventures with them. The problem - and this is what many people on
uk.sci.weather do not or will not understand - was for most people the data
was too technical. I received a lot of e-mails asking what on earth the
graphs were supposed to be displaying. It was because of this I decided to
remove their data from the site, although as I said, personally I thought it
was excellent.

It's the old story - if you want to make a commercial proposition out of a
weather data site you've got to appeal to a much wider audience than the
'hardcore' enthusiasts. To do this you must make the stuff very easy to
understand.

For all fans of halo / theyr, here is the story about the site and the
man who realized his visions.

I do hope that he will find a way to get his brilliant application up
and running somehow. I would gladly pay a sum of money to be able to
use it.

Rgds,
Markku
