With 1038 mb at midday this is the highest May pressure I have
recorded (since 1983), beating the previous 1037 mb in May 1991.
Overe 1040 mb in the west of the UK.

I only have complete records of pressure @ 09:00, my previous record
being 1034 mb (My records start 1992, so I missed 1991). It was 1040
mb @ 09:00, rising to 1041 mb at noon, so the previous record
absolutely shattered.

Virtually unbroken strong sunshine has taken the edge off the still
coolish breeze. I have recorded 10 days with the pressure > 1040mb @
09:00, Dec - 4, Feb - 3, Jan - 2, Nov - 1

Tears before bedtime. Mark my words.

How long after your previous record did it take for Japan to get a
large quake?

I mean no offense, but do you really believe the atmosphere is
responsible for earthquakes? I can't think in any way how they can be
related, since the mass of the atmosphere is tiny in comparison to the
Earth, and earthquakes happen miles underground, away from the
influence of the atmosphere.

Just wondering.
