My dad is on a statin called Simvastatin for his cholesterol levels. The
leaflet inside the packet says not to be taken with grapefruit juice, and we
have read on websites that taking statins and grapefruit juice at the same
time can be fatal. But what if he eats a grapefruit at a completely
different time?

Currently he takes statins late at night about 10.30pm. About once a week he
likes half a grapefruit for breakfast at around 7am. When he told a friend
today she said it would still be a dangerous thing to do.

What does everyone think?

Tell him to read 'The Great Cholesterol Con' by Dr Malcolm Kendrick,
Statins are totally unnecessary. Reducing cholesterol levels can even be
dangerous.
