Connection Port - Instillation of Urokinase into Chest Drains

Could you possibly help with a challenge we are having with the
above….?

To facilitate the above practice we are currently having to disconnect
the chest drain from the drainage bottle system, which is obviously an
infection control and safety issue. Additionally the connection is
becoming loose the more the connection is broken …

We have searched the NHS supply web site & ‘googled" for some type of
3 way tap for chest drains, but with no success.

Additionally, we have been searching for chest drains that you can
take samples from, assuming that if you can take a sample from a
drain, you will be able to inject the urokinase - but again they have
been unsuccessful.

Ideally we obviously require a system that will avoid the repeated
disconnection.

I was therefore wondering what system others used,… and if anyone was
aware of any system that existed that could help us….

Also is anyone aware of any other forums where I could post this
request for help?

Many thanks

Steve
