It's that time again folks (He said with the air of one whose job it was to
say so)
I can never keep track of who's who on here, so these threads are very
helpful.
We might even get a few lurkers joining in.

Please just keep the questions and your answers in your replies for easy
reading (See my example in reply to this post)
Obviously miss any out you aren't happy with.

Ta!

Sep 1999 (It was hard in those days I can tell you. Coal powered PC's, but
at least you could leave your firewall open).
Found URP while wandering naively through the uk. hinterlands of Usenet.

Brother Jimmaeus (Preest) since May 1990.
I was at the first Meet in June 2000, where I met most of the then regs.
Last met most of the old crowd June 2001 (Politics being what it is)
Met Trin, Spyder, Nanny, Thorn, Francis, Jani and Nuala at Trin and Spyder's
Handfasting a couple of weeks back (Sorry for any I've forgotten)

Ex-reg, now intermittant. Would love things to go back to 'the

LOL! Aye, both are me (tho' the other Ali is someone else
entirely). 'Pologies for causing confusion. I was almost sure I
posted a 'it's me, but using a different nym' post, but maybe I
didn't...

Now, what is *really* amusing is when people haven't realised and
treat me and 'her' differently :) Mind you, 'she' hasn't been
around these parts for a while because I gave up using the
abysmal ntl newsservers.

First posted in about Oct 02, following a couple of months lurking. Saw
references to URP on ARWM and dawdled over to see what was going on,
probably spend more time here than there now.

Regular then intermittent then lurker, but have gone back to regularly
intermittent or perhaps intermittently regular.

>WHEN DID YOU FIRST POST TO URP AND HOW DID YOU FIND US?:

First posted when it first opened for business. Found out about it as
was one of the original lot questioned by the first proponent of the
group (anyone ever heard from Steve since then?). Posts should be easy
to find - just look for silly sigs that started "Life is like".

>DO YOU KNOW ANY URPERS IN REAL LIFE (TM)?:

Have met a few regulars, intermittent and lurking members. Shez and
Raven (no, not RBB) spring to mind. However, most I know from here also
appear in ARWM (Janet, Francis Freespirit, Jackdaw, Caroline, Romauld,
Baird, Gale) or just because I know them from here or ARW (Carl, Trin,
Spyder, Cursuswalker, Kro'dog). The only exception is Will who I know
from other groups.

However, I'll be fit enough to travel soon (had a car accident a couple
of months ago - car completely written off but new one [new to me and
the world] will be delivered in the next couple of days) so I'd love to
meet up with folk from here (Trin & Spyder - wouldn't you like to
reaffirm your vows? *Grin*).

I've met quite a few at the last 3 Manchester meets (including one that

Not yet, fluffybuns! Your initation is due soon, and we are all
preparing in our own deeply lovely ways....

Damh is having his hair done
Cerri is sculpting a clay club-of-protection
Mandah is stripping as we speak
Finn's van is breaking down just to get into practice
Janice is making some strangely interesting incencse
CW is hugging his lovely pink dreamcatcher
Siobahn and Darren are out hunting down a herd of babysitters...
Alan has begun a long barefoot trek from the West
....and I have just about finished brushing the rust off the blades.

The ceremony will, of course, be presided over by Janet.

Face it, she is the only one we know with all the "right" pagan kit :-)

Preest xxx, in gleeful anticipation, mainly cos Josh is in charge of the
bonfire ;-)

Happy days indeed - I read the whole thing too - or at least quite a lot
of it. It reminded my of quite a few things - people who used to post
but don't know, the handfasting of my friends (which reawoke my interest
in paganism) and the old Remarq website, among others. And Asdatru, of
course. I should have given that as my religion on the form. How could I
have forgotten that?

More by the company of you keep. Which makes you a Lithuanian Druid
Evangelical Atheist. Actually, methinks the concept a Lithuanian Druid
is not *quite* as ridiculous as it sounds, having spent time talking to
Tim S about his national faith recently.

Mind you, there is also the issue of the "long, black coats" being
matched with "intriguing silver jewellery", a long time interest in
"John Dee and magic", the fact that you own as many "Pagan Texts" as I
do (and have actually read the ble*ding things), your "enjoyment of
forests", and, erm, the "company you keep". Did I mention that last one
before? :-)

ahem...

"The enemy lined the shore in a dense armed mass. Among them were
black-robed women with dishevelled hair like furies, brandishing torches.
Close by stood druids, raising their hands to heaven and screaming dreadful
curses.

This weird spectacle awed the Roman soldiers into a sort of paralysis. They
stood still and presented themselves as a target. But then they urged each
other (and were urged by the general) not to fear a horde of fanatical
women. Onward pressed their standards and they bore down their opponents,
enveloping them in the flames of their own torches. Suetonius garrisoned the
conquered island (Ynys Môn or 'Anglesey'--northwestern coast of Wales). The
groves dedicated to Mona's barbarous superstitions he demolished. For it was
their religion to drench their alters in the blood of prisoners and consult
their gods by means of human entrails."

And since YS is actually named for a Lithuanian... and since the atheist and
I returned from our honeymoon so I could sing a three HOUR ceremony in
Lithuanian... :)

That bit's ok.

However, are you SURE, absolutely sure you want to say - think *carefully* -

Though, tbh, I don't own that many "Pagan texts", thinking about it.

I own a reasonable amount of texts ABOUT Paganism - spanning the ages.

Not *quite* the same thing, I feel, (she says, attempting to get all of the

There are remarkably few "this is how you do it" texts, really... :)

The only problem is that BOTH sides were Pagans, were they not?

And only one lot were wearing black?

We are rapidly heading towards TMI-land here and I would hate to
be the one responsible for making a poor Preest blush (as if!),
so I shall retire gracefully and promise never *ever* to call him
'The Pert One' in his presence :) His hearing is not what it
was[1] and gawd knows what he would *think* I said...

[1] I once called him 'choochy-face'. He heard it as 'shit-face'.
