Anyone who watched yesterday's Question Time will have noticed how the
BBC sneaked in, right at the end of the programme, when there was
insufficient time for full replies, a question from a 'British' Moslem
female, who referred to Israel as a 'terrorist state'.

Sir Martin Sorrell, the only Jew on the panel, was particularly
unprepared for such a question, and feebly remarked that 'other
governments do the same' with reference to the alleged forging of
British passports. He was then rounded upon by the other panellists
and by David Dimbleby in what struck me as being a lynch job.

The BBC really needs to be shaken up, and an incoming Tory Government
(hopefully) intends to do just that.

Do you have any evidence to suggest that the lady concerned is not
British? Given her accent I would suggest there is every reason to
believe that she is.

For the record, the final question occupied around 7 minutes of the
programme once answers started to be given. The previous question took
around 30 seconds longer.

I've just watched the entire programme and I simply do not recognise
your description. Sir Martin's comment referred to other countries'
special forces operations in general and not about forged passports in
particular, and went on to add that the diplomatic penalty imposed by
the UK is 'appropriate'. At no point was he rushed; indeed he
voluntarily took a question from the audience. You say that he
responded feebly, but he is a businessman and not a politician: his
answer was always going to be the weakest on this highly political point.

When the floor passed to the rest of the panel, they spoke in a measured
way and at no point 'rounded on' Sir Martin. Liam Byrne agreed with him
that the sanction was appropriate, and Baroness Warsi noted that the
diplomatic expulsion was actually a very serious thing to do, and that
'you should be able to trust your friends'.

I must say it seems very fair minded & civilised over here, rather
than on the American dominated SCJM. Sorry for any unwanted
interjection.

Nice to see you here Lee. We need posters like you to make this attempt to
revive the group work after a 4 year gap.

Anything rather than the Tories, I left school in 1980 & remember the
last time the Tories tried to fix the economy by restricting the money
supply, during a recession!

A hung Parliament would be good, we could have the same politics as
Israel!

And do you not find that there is at least an element of truth in that

It's governed by rule of law. Those laws are the work of its elected

press and other media, and its political affairs openly debated by its
people, who are free to join the political associations of their

You might want to criticise Israel, for many things, but one thing it
clearly isn't is a terrorist state.
