Hi

Anyone care to make any recommendations on fitting a compact washing machine
in a narrowboat good or bad.

So far I've had two

1) Don't install CANDY as the don't like invertors
2) Zanussi Studio is the best - but I can't find it listed on their web
site.

Any recommendation appreciated

Many Thanks

I fitted the Candy compact and it works very well using an inverter
(admittedly a Mastervolt pure sine wave but I have heard that its very
reliable with inverters in general). The main advantage of the Candy is it
has a hot and cold feed so underway it doesn't need to use the heater
element and uses only about 300watts. The Zanussi only has a cold feed I
believe.

I have a Zanussi Studio washer, and it seems to have both hot & cold
feeds. But it is at least six years old (I bought the boat 2nd hand,
with it already installed), so things might have changed.

However, if I passed that way again I wouldn't get a compact if I could
possibly help it. I'd have a full-size washer-dryer (one doesn't have
to use the dryer part when not connected to shorelines, of course), and
I'd sacrifice some space. That's my tuppence worth, in case you were
thinking of the compact simply to save a little space, but perhaps your
circumstances completely rule out the larger option.
