I am about to change my gas cooker on my NB as it is old and rusty.

I have found a good range of cookers by Stoves and am probably opting for
their hob: Vanette L.P.G. 4021 Series Hotplate and built in oven: Vanette
GG2200 Oven and Grill which all have flame failure devices on every burner.
This is the main requirement for BSS.

I only have room for 500mm wide units and cannot use a free-standing cooker
as I have a sloping V bottom hull and do not have the height at the
gunwales.

These Stoves units are more expensive than normal domestic appliances and I
wonder whether anyone has any cheaper options. Flavel camping cookers seem
to be cheap and flimsy but are without flame failure device FFD.

Many domestic appliances come with an LPG conversion kit - set of jets.
Most budget cookers do not have FFD and are no good for boats. Anything out
of a marine catalogue is expensive, so I wonder whether anyone has found a
suitable domestic alternative with LPG conversion.

My choice would be to ditch the gas and look at the Wallas range of
diesel cookers. A less volatile fuel and they will (apparently) run
on paraffin as well.

Kurunda Marine would be the best contact.

I have just decided to ditch my Wallas hob because it's so unreliable. I
feel that the build quality is not up to standard for an appliance of this
price, and they are hidiously complicated. The ceramic tp is easily broken
too, and it costs 250 quid!!!!

Have a butchers in the screwfix catalogue. I know they do gas
cookers both natural gas and LPG. As to thier compatability and conformance to
BSS I haven't a clue but its worth checking out

In article <aphg58$3t$1...@venus.btinternet.com>,

We have the Vanette GG7700 oven with the matching Vanette 4 burner
hotplate which have given us very good service since they were fitted as
the budget option 4 years ago. I doubt as you'll get anything better for
less but shop around as prices vary.

I live in a village where there is no mains gas and one of my neighbours
cooks with LPG - her cooker is a New World.
Lots of French cookers work on LPG as well, if you spend much time across
the Channel.

LPG equipment is pretty big in Spain and Portugal as well, they have
all sorts of kitchen stoves and ranges that run off gas.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions - I have learnt from reading
everything that has been said. .

I have given it some thought and will buy the Stoves Vannette products with
the FFD.
