For some time now the Orange "Everyday 50" tariff appears to have been
the "boaters choice" for affordable, off-peak, mobile internet access.

On a visit to Carphone Warehouse to upgrade my phone today, I found out
that the "Everyday 50" tariff is no longer available to new subscribers
and it's probably only a matter of time before existing contracts will
be compulsorily changed over to one of the new range of Orange tariffs.
I was told that to get the same amount of ("free" off peak) usage as the
"Everyday 50" tariff offered would cost a new subscriber £31 per month
(compared to £15 before) - a rise of over 100 per cent!

I would suggest that anyone currently enjoying the benefits of an Orange
"Everyday 50" contract goes and "upgrades" their phones like *tomorrow*,
as this involves signing a new 1 year contract on the same terms as the
existing one. Whether Orange will honour these contacts if they decide
to "pull the plug" on us is another matter of course;-)

Cheers John

Considering or
Looking at the new Orange phone with camara and data packet swiching, paying
for megabit download. Found from another user that the signal had to be at max
to work unlike the Nokia which t/r even on a low signal.

Clogdancer on a fat boat. Abandoned the north to explore the other half before
it sinks.
