Does anyone know the contact address/phone number of the manufacturer or
supplier of Epping stoves? Dave & Jane Green have one in the boatmans cabin
of Willy No-Name.

I would ask Dave Green but he's currently in Moscow and I need this
information fairly urgently.

The Epping is the only stove I've seen so far which has a small oven and
hotplate but if anyone knows of other models with these features and has
information on suppliers I'd be glad to hear about them.

Hi Connie

The two stoves I know of that are "back cabin range style" are the
Epping and the Classic. I think the main difference is which side the
oven is.

CF Supplies 01204 594790 advertise a Boatman stove in one of the mags
and I know that Midland Chandlers have either the Epping or the Classic
at Braunston. Main 'phone number at Penkridge 01785 712437

There's also a company which advertises in the mags with a display ad of
lots of stove types but I can't for the life of me find one now
(midnight!)

Hope that helps

Cheers

In addition to the suggestions already made, Steven Goldsbrough would
know a source.
AFAIR there was a review of all the available stoves in one of last
summers' WWs.

Many thanks for the information gentlemen. :)
I'll start phoning around.

The stove btw is not for a boat but for the new kitchen extension at my
cottage. So far all I've been offered from the landlubbers stove shops is
an "end of range (no pun intended!)/last one in the country" Jotul for 900
quid!

I'll post an invitation to the official opening but you might have to travel
overland... can't see you reaching me via the watery route.. it's a might
choppy across Rye Bay! :)

I think there's an advert for Epping stoves in the office window of R W
Davies at Saul. Will check if I remember this weekend when we're there.

Ah in that case something slightly larger might be in order.
Persephone has a Stratford which is similar to the Epping but with more
hob space and an opening door on the grate so you can look at the fire!

I'll look in the local Army Surplus - they have been known to have
quite substantial "field ranges" in sheet steel, which can be built
into a kitchen!

Get across to France then - you'll pick up something for less than a
hundred quid at a Brocante (village/town car boot-sale... but more
genuine). I've seen a few free-standing ranges, too big for boats, but
cottage-sized, on sale there. They have them on Sundays and French
public holidays (they have more than we do, too!).

I remembered! The advert suggests that R W Davis are actually the
manufacturers of the Epping. Their number:

Tel 01452 740233
FAX 01452 741307

Had a nice microgig with Malcolm Jones and family at the Saul Boat
Gathering. Traditional bottle of white wine was consumed on the foredeck
in the sunshine.

I phoned R.W. Davis this morning and sure enough, they are the manufacturers
& suppliers of Epping Stoves.

In case anyone else is interested, they informed me that they will supply &
deliver to individual customers as well as 'trade', usually within 3-7 days.
Prices at yet unknown. I'm expecting to receive their brochure before the
end of this week and will post an update on my enquiries in due course.

Once again, many thanks to everyone who came to my assistance.. I just
wouldn't have known where to begin my search without your help.

I've just given nb COOPERATION of the West Riding Narrow Boat
Cooperative a help up the first Poolstock Lock. I came across them as I
pedalled along the canal at Ince Moss, where the flashes are both sides
of the canal. It was a perfect Spring morning, bright, warm, except for
that early morning nip, and I was sorely tempted to scrap Wednesday, get
back home for my windlass and key, and give them a hand up the flight.

Ah, well. Back to planning a School Governors Finance C'tee Meeting,
Church Fetes etc for the year, papers for the AGM and Sunday's
Service...

Ours is much better than last year, so much so that we can afford to keep the

keep the head covering teachers' absence instead of being able to do his job

I have an Epping in the back cabin. Although highly efficient, will certainly warm the cabin up in no time, will stay in all night, and roast a chicken, mind you, has to be some small chicken! It's only drawback as far as I'm concerned, is that does not provide that warm friendly glow. In fact you can't see the fire. Pity as otherwise it is an excellent stove, very welcome when moving the boat from Northwich to Bollington a couple of weeks ago in freezing conditions.
