We rarely go downstream on the Thames. On the two previous times, we saw
a house painted pink with black spots. We think this was near Chertsey
Lock. But it wasn't there this year.

Does anyone know anything about this? Or have a picture?

It sounds like you are talking about the old demolished night-club, that was
a hundred yards or so down stream on the ports side. The new replacement
building is a Pub Restaurant, but with limited Bar area so its almost all
Restaurant. It must have gone a couple of years ago (spotted eyesore). No
pictures though ,Sorry.

Went through Chertsey by boat today (and stopped for a drink there) I can't say
I noticed it. Have got to go for a meeting there tomorrow, will have a closer
look.

We turn round and go back again.
Nimrodel is not a narrow boat, and our insurance doesn't cover us for
tidal waters. So using canals as an alternative route isn't an option.

The Pink Peril was painted in the outstanding colour and spots as a
reaction to a refusal of planning permission a few years ago. The
building was a nightclub, frequented by homosexuals (hence the
colour). The site is now occupied by "The Kingfisher" Public House
(operated by English Inns).

Probably why I didn't spot it yesterday .We stopped for a drink in the
Kingfisher courtesy of the lock keeper who let us stay on the lock moorings for
an hour. Nice place but very much a food establishment that served drinks -
mind you it was Sunday lunchtime.
