I would be inclined to send them a bill - yes seriously!

It's only the financial pressures that will make them change.

OTOH they might just pay and do nothing (as happened with a 100ukp
bill for propellor damage due to some submerged concrete on the
Regents Canal...)

Thanks for the tip about sending them the bill. I'm afraid in
this case it won't work as Pete Flockhart, being the nice bloke
he is and we being mooring neighbours, did the repair free of
charge.

Perhaps BW are unaware that projecting bolts do cause a problem.
Am I right in thinking that there are only two or three BW yards
that make gates? Would a word in two or three ears do the trick?
