The interesting thing about this lot (though not of much consolation
to folk flooded from their homes) is that it gives an idea of the
water levels on these stretches before the Ardnacrusha hydroelectric
power station was built. The effect is even clearer on the next page I
intend to post, showing Plassey, Corbally, the Park Canal and the
Abbey River.

Seems fairly well contained, Brian. Nowhere as bad as in Cumbria.

Hi Brian
Just heard from my daughter today who is attending Limerick University.
The Shannon splits the university into two with the main campus on the
south bank and several of the accommodation sites on the north bank. She
is resident close to the north bank and water supply to the
accommodation has being polluted by the floods.
If you have any photos of that area i would be interested. Many thanks.

I should say that I am interested only in the effects on the
navigations. And I am, no doubt selfishly, particularly interested in
the temporary restoration of the water levels that pertained on the
lower Shannon navigation before the Ardnacrusha power station took
most of the water away.
Google will no doubt be able to supply pics of folks in Counties
Tipperary, Cork, Galway, Clare and elsewhere who have been forced from
their homes by the floods.

I didn't take photos of the University buildings, but here are some
showing the level of flooding.
