Were you in one of the fleet of vehicles that left the outdoor centre and
hostel just as we started up the glen on Saturday? Ships that pass.....
If between us we have persuaded more folk to look at the south ridge we have
done mankind a service!
Mike
We took this route when we first climbed those hills, one New Years Eve a
few years ago. Prompted by guidebook warnings we had taken a rope with us,
but it stayed in the rucksack, as the 'tricky bit' was easy enough (though
exposed) even under a coating of ice (no snow).
As you say, it's a wonderful route, but neglected, probably due to the
over-cautious guidebooks, also those unfortunate individuals who climb the
hills to tick their lists, irrespective of the merit of the route. That
day, there were many others on the hills, but from the point where we
started the SE ridge we were alone.
