General Question:

Which is the best section of the DalesWay to walk. I'm considering
Kettlewell to Hawes and onwards for the weekend. Any comments welcome?

Well, what do you like? Solitude, other hikers, big views, cozy glimpses,
hill or flat, strenuous or mild, ruins or tidy? I enjoyed all of it,
perhaps because it offered so many different things, so many
contrasts--which makes your question hard to answer. Here's what I enjoyed
most: the high section across the limestone pavement just past Grassington,
eating Wensleydale and crackers in a phone booth in the rain at Kettlewell,
the view up Wharfedale from above Cray, Langstrothdale, the Cam Road, the
Dent brewery, the track over Long Rigg just before Sedbergh, the walk by the
Lune with all the wild garlic and bluebells, the view from Pulpit Rock, all
the viaducts and rail bridges.
