Does anyone know the current status of this structure? A look at the
current Gogle Earth image, (dated 2006), shows a large amount of
reconstruction to and around, the building. The footprint of the main
structure seems to be the same, so I was wondering whether it had been
converted in some way.

Answering my own question, after being given a lead by someone.
Looks quite impressive, at least two of the London war rooms will
survive as houses.
