I'm looking for suggestions of snogs to learn and snig that are in a
particular hard to define niche typified by such things as:

Scotsman's Kilt (not the rugby snog version)
Chastity Belt
Some of Tom Lehrer eg:
I Got It From Agnes, My Home Town and Irish Ballad
...

Timeless clever humour rather than crude or dated.

Not talking about thingy are we?

Whose name escapes me at this moment, who was famous for Guide cats for the
blind.

He seems to have spoofed many a folk songs lyrics. That one about the teddy
drowning and goldfish and chips comes to mind.

To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer and the BOFH.

Promising - need some work to recreate.

Oh how could I have forgotten to check through his stuff.

Wonderful - absolutely perfect, and ludicrously easy TAAW.

Also fun - but the Vicar is a real prize piece.

That one sounds like Ronnie Barker got at the lyrics. It didn't
need that doing to it IMHO.

Yes that is the guy.

I like parode's, even the crazy Weird All has a few good ones, albeit
mostly based around big hits.
I always liked Addicted to Spuds.

It was funny, the other day, a guy on a radio station not from this parish
was plugging a new remixed and remastered collection from the Worzels.
Professional Stereotypes if ever there was some. Funny though.

Baron Knights also had a lot more stuff than you usually hear on the radio.
Where are all the spoofers now. I guess most of the recent songs are not
really tuneful enough to be recognised without their production and original
words.

Roddy Macmillan snag a lot of traditional snogs - 'Banks of Fordie' is
easily learnt.

Some of Calum Kennedy's œuvres are particularly traditional. You could
look at Andy Stewart, Alain Stivel TAAAW.

If you do monologues, listen to Mike Harding's rendition of Three
Ha'pence A Foot. (Prob. Stanley Holloway originally.)
Concludes with the classic line: "Bugger off," said Sam. And then drowned.
Napoleon's Retreat From Wigan is also worth a listen.

A lot of the Stanley Holloway monologues either still apply or can be
updated, as do a lot of the Flanders and Swann songs. "'T'was on a

I can't see how it could be anything else. "Please, Sir, it wasn't me",
"He's a good lad, if he tells you so you can trust him" and so on.
Sillyfunny proposition presented effectively.

He was a very sensible man in a lot of ways.

I see you've already added Flanders & Swann to the list, I've performed
the Hippopotamus Snog a few times and it's gone down well, along with
Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III and Save the Slug by me.

Also you could look into Dr Hook - try "Everybody's making it big but
me", "Cover of the Rolling Stone", and "The Millionaire". And Harry
Chapin - "Six string orchestra". And Ivor Biggun - "No no no".

How exactly did they manage to get so many different 'tradesmen' to

Also, I think "Have some Madeira, my dear" might not appear quite so
matter of fact these days. I can still remember the atmosphere of
discomfort when I vocally didn't get the bit about stamps, all
unperforated, bwahahaa.
