In short, due to the resign of 3 designated participants, this travel
depends on finding 3 more passengers.
Leaving my SO and me as the only ones would stretch our financial
capacities a bit.
Lake Baikal near in Russia( Burjatia) is the worlds largest liquid
freshwater reserve, with a max depth of 1637m, a stunning biological
diversity as well as peculiarity, spectacular natural riches, and a
pretty technical competent dive scene.
There will be on week of liveaboard diving, one week of shorediving and
getting in touch with the locals.
Mrs. Feierabend, the wife of the guy who operates the tour, comes from
Lake Baikal and has lived at least 10 years among the shamanistic
culture, traces of which can be seen in her inspiring paintings.
All things related to diving may be hired from the locals. Modern stuff
like Apeks and everything.
Drawback: We need answers now. Possibly tomorrow. Visa charges go up
with remaining time left.
Timeline: Starts 12.06.05 Berlin via Moskwa-Irkutsk.
back: 25th of June
Costs: 2150 Euro, including diving.

Participants should be able to do drysuit diving, have excellent
bouyancy capabilities.
No need to be fluent in russian.

Hope it worked out for you, did you fill the spots?
I think the closest we have out West is Flathead Lake in Montana, or Lake
Pend Oreille in Idaho.
I suppose the nearest equivalent we have here in the UK would be Horsea
Lake!
