Hi there and sorry to bother you.

I was at Peak 2000 as one of the onsite activities, "Astrosphere"
Planetarium.

If you recall each of the Peak Subcamps had a Space related name, Apollo,
Sputnik, Soyuz and was it Columbia?

What I am after are the subcamp patches. If you or anyone you know has a few
spares could you please let me know ASAP. I am sure there must have been a
fair few spares from the official sets on camp.

I am wanting mainly the Apollo, Soyuz and Columbia ones.

Many Thanks for your help and maybe see you Peak 2005 from 30th July to 6th
August 2005 at Chatsworth Park in Derbyshire again if were there.

And if we saw you at CAMJAM hope you have all dried out by now

Cheers

Andrew

Try Paul Newsham 01773 827221

I have not got an email for him but he is organising Peak 2005 so he
must have a contact somewhere in the file for 2000.

We were on Excalibur Sub Camp but in the main arena for activities.

Is it a good idea putting someone else's phone number on such an open
forum as this?

Unless of course you have asked them.

You can always reply off-line, and even then, it is better to ask the
person who wants to contact someone else for THEIR contact details for
you to pass to the person concerned - who is (blissfully) unaware that
somebody (who may after them with a grudge) has just got their personal
details (along with half of the universe).

True, but then again my details are in my post so I guess that works the
same. However, point taken. If someone could pass my details onto Paul
Newsham I'd be very greatful.

Thanks

Andy

It is your choice which sig you use. It doesn't have to be the same one
as you would use in emails.

Some would say you are taking risks in putting so much detail in here -
and I am one of them.

Some others would tell you what the convention for a sig on newsgroups
is (and it includes no more than four lines) - so look out for a
response from Dr John......

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

It is unreasonable of you, being a mature or at least long-established
adult, to complain about the admittedly over-long signature of a rather
juvenile poster, while yourself setting him a bad example - which he has
followed - by ignoring the more important conventions about quoting no
more than is reasonably necessary, not quoting signatures (especially
your own) except when under discussion, and answering after points
quoted.

For further guidance, see below.

I would agree with Derek there. You are using a news group and there is
no reason that I can think of to post your full snail mail address and
phone number in this medium.

Apart from the waste of band width it ignores the accepted conventions
and does leave you open to those who you might upset, however
inadvertently. Mind you we would hope that no one from urs would fall
into that category however there will of course be a record on google so
if you post elsewhere who knows who may be lurking.

Dear Dr John

Was the above a complaint?

I don't think so. It was a pointer that he may be taking more of a risk
than worth while, by the amount of personal detail.

Was I right to do so?

Was I complaining or telling him he was wrong?

Again, I don't think so - I said that some others would.

I WAS pointing out that you were likely to do so.

Was I wrong? I don't think so. You arrived, didn't you?

Not all of us are perfect, but some of us realise it.

Your comment is noted.

It is a balance thing.

Don't worry, it's only because it's the end of January, the skies are
brightening, the birds are flying, the Christmas bills have arrived and
every ng seems to have someone on pedant patrol...! ;o)

Hi Andy

Sorry about the flak. I just thought I'd keep my head down until the
coast was clear again.

I've had a word with Paul. They are having a meeting next week about
Peak when the subject of any existing badge stock will be covered. I
will keep you posted as to the result

Richard
