On the 2nd of February, 1709, a landing expedition of the DUKE
and the DUCHESS, anchored at Isla más a Tierra. brought back
with them not only plenty of fish, but also Alexander Selkirk,
a Scotsman who had lived there for four years and four months.

in 1705, he had refused to reboard the CINQUE PORTS, as it turned
out that it was (in his opinion) heavily damaged by shipworms.
That ship sank soon, killing near all of the crew.

His story was the inspiration for the Danile Defoe's novel /Robinson
Crusoe/. The island was renamed "Robinson Crusoe" later.
