Any recommendations or horror stories? My contents policy doesn't allow
me to add it, so I'll have to buy a separate policy. It's worth perhaps
£700, We go away to Europe for 3 - 4 weeks each summer and I'd like to
cover this as well.

the important thing about dinghy insurance is not so much the value of the
boat, as the third-party cover to protect those that you might hit with it.
You really shouldn't sail at all without it.

Tried and true dinghy insurers are:

Noble Marine (somewhere on the web)
Newton Crum
Admiral
Douglas Cox Tyrie

FWIW, I use Noble Marine and have found them excellent, they've paid one
third-party claim and bought me one brand-new Laser hull following storm
wreckage of the old one. And they let me renew as well...

cheers

The Topper Class association offer a very competitive scheme that
doesn't seem to have too many restrictions.

I use the RYA scheme. I get a no-claims discount and another one for
being a qualified Instructor. It saves me Ł20 per year over Nobles. If
you are already a member check their scheme out. And as pointed out
elsewhere don't ever consider not having insurance. No Club I know will
allow you to launch without it, and I suspect the 'day ticket' places
won't either. They are looking at the 3rd party aspect of your policy.
Also check out the state of play when your are transporting the boat.
If it comes unsecured it could cause a lot of problems and no insurance
would just about be the pits in that situation!

Thanks, all. I've gone with Noble Marine as I needed it quickly. Maybe
I'll look at the class association next year. Mind, it was only Ł26 anyway.
