Maralyn Bailey has died, sad news, for those of you who don't know, she and her
husband spent 117 days adrift in a liferaft in the pacific after their yacht
was hit by a whale and sank.

If you get the chance read the book.

Wow. When did this happen?

Same thing happened to a chap & family back in the sixties. His book
"Survive the Savage Sea" is a frightening account of it. I think he did
about 56 days in a 10 foot dinghy with 7 on board. He was called Dougal
Robertson and I wonder what happened to him and his family after they were
rescued.

Sorry to hear about Marilyn, did her husband survive?

Sorry to hear of her death.
I was on Coastguard duty at Saint Ives when they anchored overnight on their
way home to the Channel Islands with their new boat Auralyn (spelling) 2.
They had only picked her up from North Devon a few days before.
She was the strength of that ordeal.

For anyone who has not read their book, please do so. It makes interesting
reading.

what is the name of the book, I read survive the savage sea, after
describing it at the local Waterstones, but I think that the book by Maralyn
Bailey was probably the one I was after!

Stick her name in Google and you will find it in about 0.00343 seconds or
something like that.

Aptly named 117 days adrift, well worth a read.
