Hi
I would like to know of any good mods ect for the Maycom EM27 as I have just
purchased one and am delighted with it. Also if there is a power mike
specifically made for this set as I find that this is its only failing

In article <_LE_7.282$3A5....@news1.cableinet.net>,
cw...@cableinet.co.uk says...
You can open it up so you get Super low to Super High by altering links
on the mainboard.

Try:
http://www.radiomods.co.nz/
http://www.timfy.freeserve.co.uk/maycomem.htm

The following page is for a US rig which seems similar:
http://www.bills2way.com/modification/mod_cm10.html

I haven't tried any of these mods myself - I personally am happy with
80 FM channels - but indexed the sites out of interest.

HTH!

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean, if pac-man
affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in
darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to
repetitive music.

When i had one i always got excellent reports for the TXed audio with
the standard mike, you might want to get that checked first.

Expanding is easy enough, but with FM only? Does cover 10m though if
you're licensed to use it.

Cheers,

Jon.

Reset the radio (M1 and M5). Whilst it is STILL resetting remove the power
from it (un plug it). Wait a second or two. Plug power back in. Turn on.
Radio now covers the same range as the physical mod but the frequency
counter does not work. I did write down what the channel numbers were
frquency wise. If I find it I will post it. ENJOY :-)
P.S Am I the only person in the country that knows about this?

P.P.S To restore back to 80 channels simply reset.

No, I know about it, it seems to get stuck in a loop once you get
past all the strange channels, but works fine

What's the point in having even 80 channels? The only activity these
days is only really happening on 19 and very, very occasionally 14.
Virtually nobody moves to other channels any more.

It's a big shame because I really used to enjoy CB.

What I want to know is, who's buying all the new CB's and why aren't
the old CB's going for a fiver since there must be hundreds of the
buggers out there colecting dust. (and the CB sets :)

Darkened rooms, repetative music and popping pills....
Sound rather like a typical teenage party or disco to me.

Same here... very quiet.

I wonder the same... how are the CB shops surviving, how do they make
enough sales to cover the overheads?
I remember when CB was first legalised, and there were CB shops in almost
every town... more in some towns. Most "brown goods" shops were
selling CBs, even certain motor parts stores were in on the act. But the
bubble burst, and it seems to be mainly mail order or a day trip (unless you
happen to live near one of the remaining shops).

There are two small CB shops just down the road to me, but they are small
shops and CB is just a small part of their business. There was one in my
nearest city (about 12 miles to the shop), but I haven't been there in years.

It is amazing when someone turns up with a "mint condition" cybernet type
CB still in the box with the manual, that they just picked up for a tenner.
The original owner used it once or twice, then put it in a cupboard, and has
just pulled it out to sell it.
They are out there somewhere.... just like all the mounting brackets.

Peter.
