Thank you for the form Walt. I had heard about the offer but had no way of
applying.

Clever of the RSGB to advertise the offer in RadCom, a publication available
only to members!

Hmmmm. 12 issues of RadCom plus other benefits (you'll have to remind me of
those) or about half a pint of beer. It's a 'no brainer'.

Cheers,

Steve

Yes, because existing members should be interested in
increasing membership numbers .... if it was just sold
at newsstands the scheme would be rather "hit & miss".

Why would anyone want to?

I may be tolerant, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

http://www.rsgb.org/shop/acatalog/RSGB_Guniea_Offer.html

"During the month of July (only) the RSGB has introduced a new "member
to new member" scheme. ... To take advantage of the offer you will
need to complete the form on page 69 of July RadCom. We only accept
original RadCom pages or direct photocopies of the page (should you
not wish to damage the RadCom or if you are making multiple
applications) but we do not accept scans of the page (for example).
Applications are only accepted by post and should then be mailed
direct to the RSGB with the appropriate payment. Unfortunately due to
the nature of the offer we cannot accept e-mail or online
subscriptions"

Tight!

So how do they tell a scanned image from, say, a colour photocopy?

I sound like I know what I'm talking about, but don't
be fooled.

Oh Boy.... have they really gone and dropped themselves in it??? thing is
if argued they are gonna end up with egg in their faces, Technically a
photocopied image is accuired in the same way as a scan... only difference
is the photocopy is printed by an internal laser printer. I see the RSGB
having to honour these applications whether they like it or not in the end
:)

Hello,

That's exactly why they will not accept a printed out scanned image of the
original page from RADCOM, even though the advert states clearly that copies
are acceptable.

They changed the rules in a bit of a panic I think - to stop people joining.
