We are considering a Eurocamp Holiday in the West of France next year, does
anyone have any knowledge as to whether there are any good sites (for family
of five - kids 8, 7, and 4) near to naturist beaches? Alternatively any
pointers to the location of beaches would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

why not go to one of the organized naturist camp sites on the west coast? They
are all attached to naturist beaches and have many other naturist facilities.
Within a hundred miles or so of Bordeaux you have Euronat, Montalivet and
Arnaouchot. Our favorite is La Jenny, but they do not have camping space. They
all have great facilities for kids!

My first experience of communal naturism occurred when I was on a camping
holiday with my family (parents, sister) at Saint-Girons-Plage (near
Vielle-Saint-Girons) in south-western France (Les Landes). One day on the
beach we noticed a couple - in amongst all the people with bathing suits -
sunbathing in the nude. Later, a naked woman came running up the beach from
somewhere to the south of us to alert the lifeguards to someone who was in
difficulty. I guessed (correctly) that if I walked down the beach in that
direction, I might find more naturists. So, on the last day of the holiday I
decided to sneak off by myself and see what was down there. I soon got the
courage to strip off, had to lie on my front for a little while, but soon
gained mastery of my bodily reactions and spent a wonderful day swimming,
sunbathing, strolling around, watching a couple of families playing cricket
in the buff, etc. At one point, I saw my parents approaching along the beach
and hastily pulled my trunks back on.

Unfortunately, having sneaked off by myself, I didn't take any suncream with
me, and I was in agony that evening. My mother made some comment about my
having 'over-exposed' myself, and I wondered if she was hinting that she
knew what I'd been up to!

We had our own tent, but there were also pre-erected tents there, so the
place might be in the Eurocamp brochure.

Looking at the INF guide, I guess we must have been near Arnaoutchot.

Why not go to a dedicated centre with direct access to the beach. Arna
is the most southerly of the Atlantic coast resorts and has a range of
accommodation including ready erected tents and is very popular with
families - I've already taken loads of bookings from people keen to get
ferries booked by Xmas to take advantage of APEX fares. There are lots
of activities for the young people and if they are happy so will you be.
E-mail me with your snail mail address if you would like more details

Hi Phil

Eurocamp has an excellent site called 'Bonne Anse Plage' near Royan in the
Gironde, West France. It has everything for kids, water slides etc. There is
also an excellent zoo about half a mile from
the campsite. The naturist beach is about a mile or two south west of the
campsite on La Grande-Cote.
My wife and two boys, ten & twelve, have had two marvellous holidays there.

Hope this is useful
