Whilst I am seriously contemplating a visit to Vassaliki in the near
future, I feel compelled to advise you that you will win few friends
by posting ads on usenet. In fact, you're risking the wrath of many
usenet regulars who despise spammers. I therefore politely suggest
that you desist. Otherwise, you may lose more business than you
generate...

According to the 'uk rec naturist' charter:
"Advertising permitted from any Naturist clubs or
associations. Nothing Else".
Vassaliki Naturist Club would therefore appear to be operating
completely within the charter.
If you read the groups Charter the advert is technically 'on-topic',
but my main complaint is their using phrases like "essence of
naturism" and "includes instruction and advice from Charlie Simonds" -
IMO Mr Simonds work is far from the essence of naturism, in fact it's
closer to the essence of the soft porn mag, even though his work (both
still and video) is technically superb you will learn the art of
photographing models but you certainly won't be capturing the essence
of naturism...

OK, I stand corrected - it's allowed within the charter. And at least
urn is not suffering the plague of "cheap Nike" ads my other regular
ng is being bombarded with at present. However, I still think that
some could be put off Vassaliki were these ads to become too frequent.
And I was very polite about pointing this out!
David
When did you see a photo of Mr Simonds that contained an older person,
someone with a large mid-rift, someone over 40 years old, a family,
even males are thin on the ground...
In any case it is Charlie's definition of naturism - and it obviously
differs from Jerry's.
Well if he is really changing his long held style, as depicted in so
much of his work (in H&E or his own videos) over the last - all but -
twenty years, then I'll retract my comments and apologise - nice to
hear it, about time...
Even if he hasn't changed his long held style, does it really matter?
As a photographer he's entitled to mae the images that appeal to him,
& if that happens to be skinny young females then so be it. That
doesn't mean they're not naturist images (which anyway are probably
harder to clearly define than naturism itself).
Perhaps one of the reasons Charlie has to use paid models for a lot of his
work is the lack of willing volunteers in the naturist movement. I know my
experience of clubs in particular was that the mere mention of a camera put
you on their mental list for expulsion. Naturists whitter on about their
cause but few are willing to stand up and be counted - or should I say
photographed?
Do you know for sure that he uses paid models??? Maybe he does, but
that's probably because there's very few people of his preference
(young, female, slim) in UK clubs or on UK beaches. Another point to
remember is that many people don't mind modelling for free if there's
no financial gain involved, but if the photographer is going to sell
these to magazines or earn money from photography courses then they
have every right to demand payment, whether they're true naturists or
not.
Personally I never pay my models yet still find plenty of volunteers,
though most of them aren't really naturists as such.
Yes, he really should get down to the gym more often.
Yes, I had forgotten about his self vanity, I hope he has grown out of
that 'phase' too, the film crew should never get into frame...
I bet he'd never hire models that looked like himself (though to be
fair no-one would buy his videos if he did).
We are only trying to keep you informed of new events that we are
running at the club.
If we don’t tell people or advertise, then the events don’t work and
the club is empty, and we have to close another club.
And as far as the comments on Charlie he is a true gentleman, his work
is purely in the name of naturism. His work in an important part of
naturism today. His work is used worldwide to promote naturism to a
huge number of people.
This week is set to be a fun light heart look at Photography for
naturists and models alike. It is about likeminded people enjoying a
week in the sun enjoying their photography
The charter of UK.Rec.Naturist permits advertising of naturist events.
So, as I understand it and having been part of URN for 11 years or so -
post notice of events and places of interest to Naturists.
Simon
No reason at all for apologizing. I have bookmarked your venue and I'm
looking forward to booking a stay at Vassaliki some time! Being pet-
lovers as well, we are particularly impressed by the congenial last
two entries in "Meet the Team", Sheba and Jack...
Thanks for your contribution!
Best regards

Rubbish, his work is purely in the name of his wallet whilst far to
many people now have the wrong impression as what naturism is as a
result! :~(
If Charlie Simonds was concerned purely about his wallet, he could
earn far more from other types of photography.
Please give evidence of the "many people" who allegedly "now have the
wrong impression of what naturism is" as a result of Parafotos'
output.
