Hi everyone,
I work for a TV company called ZKK, which makes high-quality
documentaries for the main UK channels. At the moment I‘m researching a
programme about young naturists and I‘m hoping you‘ll help me.
The programme will focus on British teenagers. We‘re interested in how
and why they get into naturism and how it can improve their body-image,
self-confidence and sometimes social life.
If you‘re the parent of a teenager, or you‘re under 21-years-old, it
would be great to have a chat on the phone. I can tell you a bit more
about the programme and what we‘re trying to achieve, and you can point
me in the right direction. There‘s absolutely no obligation to take part
in any filming and all correspondence is in complete confidence.
So if you‘re happy to talk to me, please do give me a ring at ZKK on
020 7482 5885 weekdays between 10am and 6.30pm. Or you can let me know
your number and a good time and I can call you. My email address is
fi...@zkktv.com
Many thanks,
Alex Berk (female!)
This is the second call in a week I've had about programmes on naturism!
It seems the interest in our 'lifestyle' continues to gain serious
coverage - no pun intended! Alex is well informed and supportive and
this documentary is a real opportunity to dispel the myths about
'children' and 'nudity' - please give her your support.
Details of the other programme being planned at this stage is as
follows:
James Rotheram is the researcher involved with a programme on the 'real'
life of naturists - sounds a great opportunity to get our message
across. He sent me the following last Friday and was posted the same day
to go-...@yahoogroups.com:
"Further to our conversation please find below the post for your
website. I'm just meeting with my boss now, and should be in touch in
about a week. Hopefully we'll arrange something for World Naturist Day
on the 6th June! [Picnic, Hyde Park, see 'Events Diary' for details:

Re: TV Programme: "The Real Life of Naturists"
Produced by Shine for Sky1, The Real Life of Naturists dispels the
stereotypes associated with British Naturism.
We are looking for modern day naturists. If you have a story, organise
naturist activities or campaign for a clothes-free society we want to
hear from you.
Contact James Rotheram on 020 7313 8030 for more information."
James also hopes to do some filming on the World Naked Bike Ride - 12th
June. Could those intending to take part in London or Cambridge
please get in touch with me privately by email.
Best Regards
Richard

She rang Heritage today and we had a short discussion. Sadly I think she was
utterly unaware of the social and legal mindfield she was about to stroll
through. We are not averse (as some may be aware) to promotion of naturism
through the media but this one was potentially way off beam. Nice lady - but
not in the real world.
Ian
As is the lot of a programme researcher! Programme makers think up the hair
brain programmes that *might* work, make good TV or what ever, they then get
a researcher [1] to do some spade work (which often makes them hair brained
themselves) to prove if the programme is possible or not.
Please don't shoot the messenger, they are only doing what they have been
told to do....
[1] for those who don't know, the position of a researcher is a low one,
it's regarded as the first rung of the ladder for people wishing to work in
the paper side of the broadcast media world.

How's this...The Pitch
A kind of Nudist Big-Brother where everyone starts out naked but if they
misbehave or can't complete the challenges they have to put on one or more
articles of clothing... Once dressed they are out of the house. So sad, too
bad, bye bye.

Tell them to go and make their documentary somewhere else in Europe cos in
the brave new world of the Islington Socialist anyone who lets their
children be naked in public is some sort of pervert. They risk having their
kids taken away, their computers seized, getting a conviction for 'making
indecent images of children' becaus eof the pictures, a second conviction
for distributing the images to the media and finally the wrath of the local
council estate's shell suited lovelies when plod leaks their name to the
press.
Second thoughts, with the European Arrest Warrant now a reality, tell them
to make it outside Europe cos the SOA applies to anyone in Europe who
transgresses it.
Don't ya just love this government.

No I don't love this government, the quicker we have a federal european
govenment the better, as this could not be any worse than being governed by
labour or the tories as for the lib-dems they would probably do away with
the armed forces and then we would be fair game to any other country who
wish to take us over.

I think you're jumping to conclusions here. From what was published, the
production company wants young people under 21 (anyone 18-21 is legally
an adult) and she wants them to *talk* about their naturist experiences,
not necessarily appear nude on camera!
If you analyse most TV documentaries these days, you will notice that
they are really radio programmes, and what appears on screen is mostly
visual padding that adds little or nothing to the actual information.
While I find this maddening, it means that I have confidence that a
perfectly good programme (by modern standards) could be made on the
subject with innocent though seemingly relevant images.
As for Ian, after his misjudgement over Best magazine I don't think he's
necessarily the best person to judge what the media are doing. It would
be a shame if he uses his club connections to put the researcher off.
(Just realised I have a sort of family connection in 2 current threads -
my partner's daughter started out as a TV researcher and is now a
classifier for the BBFC.)

I disagree. If done in the right way the problems can be avoided.
